FRIENDS OF THE MONK
We have some people to thank for our launch and ongoing operations. Thanks to their dedication and willingness to work for little or no money, we brought this unique concept to market.

ADAM WILLIAMS

Adam has a unequivocal knowledge of blazers. We played video games in college, he scouted thrift stores and boutiques for the best in classic blazers. It scared us a little bit at first, but we’ve grown to harness his knowledge and incorporate it into our customization process so that we can churn out top quality blazers for you. As our lead designer, its Adam’s job to ensure that our factory produces completely along the quality standards that you’d expect from an item priced 6 times higher. We don’t cut any corners, and its Adam’s job to work with the factory to oversee that the highest standards are used for making your blazer truly on par with any famous brand out there.

In addition to taking the bus regularly with Coley in the Chinese countryside on a random factory or fabric expedition , Adam is one of Shanghai’s premier DJ’s. Check out his site! www.free-bananas.com

TESS DENNER

Web designer by day, DressMonkey savior by night, Tess hails from Konstanz, Germany, and has since moved to Shanghai. She designed every single page you are no doubt enjoying (Coley did the rest), while working long into the night with a cigarette in one hand and a mouse in the other.

The design and flow of this website can almost exclusively be attributed to her hard work and being able to filter through the mountain of crappy suggestions we gave her on an almost daily basis.

She also handles our print graphic design and photo selection. To comment on her work, see more, or hire Tess as a freelance designer, please contact her
at tessdenner@yahoo.de

CHARLIE XIA

Meet Charlie Xia, one of Shanghai’s premier photographers. Most of the photos you see on this website were taken using his arsenal of cameras and llighting equipment. In addition to being a Friend of the Monk, Charlie has quickly aspired to fame in China by capturing Shanghai’s vanishing historic buildings and providing unique prospectives on the sometimes artistic, sometimes head scratching monstrosities which take their place.

Check out his entire portfolio, and do yourself a favor and buy a picture from him, it will pay for your kid’s college someday, or that new Bugatti.

TOM SIMONS

Tom Simons was originally approached by his nephew Coley on a whim, seeking some feedback for a crazy idea for a company which they called "DressMonkey." It has been over a year, and that idea has grown up thanks to Tom’s branding and marketing guidance. Taking time out of his busy schedule to advise us on anything from logos to allocation of resources, he has been an influential mentor for us in setting DressMonkey loose.

He currently serves as President and Creative Director of PARTNERS+simons, now one of the largest independent advertising and marketing services firms in New England.

SARAH HOROWITZ

After studying photography for five years, Sarah recently graduated from Pitzer College in May 2007 witha B.A. in Studio Art. She is a note-worthy individual known for her good sense of humor and her raw artistic talent and originality. Sarah is now spending her time doing freelance photography in Southern Orange County working for young, visionary companies like Dressmonkey---where she spends all her time hanging out on bouncy castles filming total betties and DM's killer gear. The younger cousin of Jeff, Sarah recalls the late 80's as influential years for the would-be founder of DressMonkey. "He was known for wearing this Calfornia Heet: To Cool For School sweatshirt in elementary that all the ladies loved. It's only fitting that he decides later in life to start a clothing company that incorporates similar aspects of individuality and personal style in their products as his bad-ass sweatshirt once did."

Sarah is always on the look out for new and fun photo jobs so check out her myspace.com photography homepage:

REID MACDONALD

Having grown up right next door to one of the founding members of DressMonkey, Reid has been involved in this "monkey" business since its inception. With a passion for music and an eye for film, it made perfect sense to make Reid our creative director for advertisements. Great blazers and amazing ads will make DressMonkey a happy chimp!!
